IGI Global and Michigan State have formed a collaborative Open Access partnership, which enables the faculty at Michigan State University to contribute their research to IGI Global's extensive portfolio as part of the Open Access Publishing Program. By participating in IGI Global's Open Access Publishing Program, researchers at Michigan State University gain access to reputable outlets that are rigorously peer-reviewed and endorsed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This ensures that their scholarly work reaches a wider audience, coupled with the advantage of expedited publication timelines (with submission to publication in as little as 2-4 weeks).

IGI Global and Michigan State University have embarked on this impactful collaboration with the aim of supporting their faculty members in their pursuit of open access research. What sets this partnership apart is its financial advantage – the library sustains no costs. By embracing this cost-free partnership, Michigan State University not only champions accessibility but also secures a 5% discount on open access processing charges for their faculty. This partnership lays the foundation for a future where accessibility and innovation coexist. To learn more about this partnership, please click here.

Due to the resolve and determination to convert its entire collection of nearly 200 open access journals earlier this year, IGI Global has quickly risen to become one of the largest publishers of fully open access journals and is dedicated to “Publishing Tomorrow’s Research Today!” The shift towards an entire portfolio of Gold and Platinum Open Access journals reaffirms IGI Global's commitment to fostering innovation, promoting interdisciplinary research, and facilitating global knowledge dissemination.

Recognizing the increasing interest in open access publishing, we are prepared to have a conversation around our flexible open access partnership, including a paid option where the library can directly fund their faculty's open access publishing with IGI Global's Open Access Journal Program, in addition to our no-cost option, adopted by Michigan State University. We encourage other libraries to meet with us to learn how faculty members can benefit from an Open Access Partnership. To learn about how your institution can be the next to support the open access movement through an IGI Global Open Access Partnership, read more on our Open Access Partnerships webpage. If you or your institution's library are ready to discuss these options with us, you can request a face-to-face meeting with our Electronic Resources Team (eresources@igi-global.com). Researchers, be sure to recommend this no-cost option to your library to start benefiting from APC discounts when you publish with IGI Global.

There is a growing issue in the research community of authors submitting their articles to gold OA journals (and even hybrid OA/subscription-based journals), and then withdrawing their article after it has been accepted to the journal, effectively utilizing all of the resources of that journal, including the peer review, only to then refuse to publish at the end of the process.
