Hershey (USA) - IGI Global, a leading international academic publisher, is pleased to announce the launch of its new "Reviewer of The Year Award" sponsored by IGI Global's Open Access Journal Program. This award recognizes the valuable contributions of IGI Global's journal editorial board members and is presented annually to the top reviewers (editorial review board members and associate editors) across IGI Global's 200+ scholarly open access journals.

All editorial board members (editorial review board members and associate editors) for IGI Global journals who are actively performing reviews in a quality and timely fashion are eligible for nomination. Performance is measured based on the volume of completed peer reviews, the quality of peer reviews, and the timeliness of completion. Reviewer performance is tracked and documented through dashboards in IGI Global's proprietary eEditorial Discovery (eED) manuscript management and review system. The top editorial review board member and the top associate editor from each of IGI Global's three major subject areas: Business & Management; Scientific, Technical, & Medical (STM); and Education are awarded the honor.

In academic publishing, reviewers are essential to the peer review process, as they ensure that the quality and integrity of research is upheld. It is IGI Global's hope that this award program will foster a culture of ethical peer review, emphasizing commitment and diligence in academic scholarship, while also providing well-deserved recognition to highly active
editorial board members.

IGI Global.

This award program joins IGI Global's long list of reviewer benefits, which includes open access processing charge discounts, Web of Science and ORCID review recognition/verification, COPE resources, letters of recognition, among others. There is a growing issue in the research community of authors submitting their articles to gold OA journals (and even hybrid OA/subscription-based journals), and then withdrawing their article after it has been accepted to the journal, effectively utilizing all of the resources of that journal, including the peer review, only to then refuse to publish at the end of the process.
