Abstract

The increasing cases of depression and low self-esteem lead to the dysfunctioning of society. Individuals form groups and groups build society; hence, it is of outmost concern to priorities at the micro level first i.e.; the individual that eventually works on the maintenance of social harmony.Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a concept focuses on self-awareness and management, social awakens, relationship management and personality. EI helps in monitoring human emotions and understanding them differently. EI uses the conceived information to guide human behavior and thoughts Modern day issues with modern solutions, Artificial Emotional Intelligence (AEI) is a computing device that detects and analyses human emotions distinctly and help to undergo the cause of a certain mental illness. AEI is in its budding stage but with a mature intention of restoring mental health with human-robot collaboration via Emotional Intelligence. This paper intends to magnify the effectiveness of EI in the domain of mental health.

Introduction

In a world set apart by the constant pursuit of success and the constant juggling of myriad responsibilities, the resonance of emotional well-being has emerged as a critical focal point. The contemporary landscape, characterized by a hypercompetitive ethos and societal expectations, has ushered in a “new normal” where individuals often find themselves alienated from their authentic selves. The perpetual grapple with work-life balance, coupled with the façade of perfection, has given rise to an unmet need for emotional release and genuine quality time – a void that, perhaps unwittingly, contributes to the nuanced complexities of mental health.

The imperative to address mental health transcends the boundaries of age, enveloping adolescents navigating the tumultuous waters of self-discovery, children grappling with the nuances of emotional understanding, and the elderly confronting the challenges of aging. The escalating incidence of depression and plummeting self-esteem levels echoes throughout society, impacting the very fabric that binds individuals into groups, and groups into society at large. In this intricate web of interdependence, it becomes paramount to prioritize interventions at the micro level – the individual – as the linchpin for fostering and sustaining social harmony.

At the forefront of this discourse stands the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI). Encompassing dimensions such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and personality considerations, EI offers an all encompassing system for understanding and exploring the complicated domain of human feelings. Its origin in 1990 denoted a change in outlook, stressing the significant job feelings play in forming individual and cultural elements.

However, as we confront the challenges of the modern era, innovative solutions are imperative. Enter Artificial Emotional Intelligence (AEI) – a nascent yet promising domain that harnesses the power of computing devices to detect and analyze human emotions with unparalleled precision. AEI, with its mature intention, seeks not only to complement but also to enhance the capabilities of human-based Emotional Intelligence. It is positioned as a beacon of hope, envisaging a future where human-robot collaboration, guided by Emotional Intelligence, becomes a catalyst for the restoration and preservation of mental health.

This paper embarks on a quest to magnify the effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence in the realm of mental health, recognizing its potential as a transformative force. Simultaneously, it explores the pressing need for Artificial Emotional Intelligence, acknowledging its emergence as a cutting-edge tool poised to revolutionize our approach to mental well-being. As we navigate the intricacies of emotions, both innate and artificial, we strive to unravel a narrative that underscores the symbiotic relationship between human emotions and technological innovation. Through this investigation, we mean to add to a nuanced comprehension of the developing scene of emotional well-being, laying the groundwork for a future where Emotional Intelligence, both human and artificial, plays a pivotal role in fostering a more resilient and harmonious society.

The historical backdrop of the capacity to understand individuals on a profound level is an interesting excursion that traverses quite a few years, set apart by key achievements and persuasive models.”Social Intelligence” as a term was introduced first in 1920, capturing the essence of skills related to understanding and navigating social interactions. However, it wasn't until 1990 that the topic gained formal recognition with the publication of the first scientific paper using the term “emotional intelligence.”

A watershed moment in the popularization of emotional intelligence occurred in 1995 when Daniel Goleman authored the best-selling book “Emotional Intelligence.” Goleman's work significantly contributed to bringing the concept into mainstream awareness and sparking widespread interest.

In 1997, a pivotal development took place with the creation of the first popular self-report questionnaire on emotional intelligence. This marked a shift towards practical assessments, allowing individuals to gauge their emotional and social competencies. Subsequently, in 2003, the first ability measure for emotional intelligence was devised, adding a more objective dimension to the assessment of these skills.
