Abstract

Education is the most potent weapon that can be used to alter the world; this is a well-known adage in today's society. Individuals are increasingly interested in acquiring diverse information that they may apply in their future undertakings. Afghan professors and students faced risks to their lives and well-being, as well as academic losses. They were and still are repressed between resistance and the possibility of survival. Exiles frequently suffer from mental trauma as a result of being exposed to violent, contentious, and abusive settings. Different international NGOs and donor organisations give such services to Afghan exile professors and students so that they may cope with the mental disturbance much better. Scholarships, language development programs, recognition, accreditation, and financial assistance support such groups to deal with the challenges.

Introduction

Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world; this is well known saying in the present time (Abbasi & Monsutti, 2023). Individuals now are interested in gaining diversified knowledge which can be used by them in their future endeavours. Different individuals have to face distinct situations which affect their academic situations. The exile is such a section of society that often has to face difficulty in accessing appropriate education, and the Afghan academic system also faced similar situations in exile (Jafari & Schuster, 2019). The concept of academics in exile reflects the human intent to resilience in the face of adversity. The narrative of such educators, scholars as well and intellectuals who have faced political conflicts or been forced to leave their land is respected (Meininghaus & Mielke, 2019).

The moment a person must leave their homeland, they are forced to deal with different kinds of challenging situations. Among such barriers, navigating the academic system can be moved towards a new landscape. The exile has to get assistance from different agencies so that they can deal with the challenges which are being faced by them (Ghosh, 2019). The students who are exiled often find themselves in such situations where the cultural gaps make it difficult for them to adjust to the host country. Afghanistan is a land where the exiled academics, as well as the students, had to face multiple disparities due to the conflicting political state. Interrupted education and barriers to resuming education are a few issues which were faced by the exiled students of Afghanistan (Alqodsi, 2023).

The essay highlights a new educational landscape that has been developed for academics in Afghanistan amidst displacement and uncertainty. The journey over the years has been discussed along with the challenges that were faced, and later on, the road to activism is also described.
