The purpose of this book is to codify methods that have been successfully used to repurpose existing curricula. I solicited examples from my colleagues and provide my own of their curriculum redevelopment work in academia, Government, association, and the private sector to analyze the approach they used, codify specific methods, and make recommendations based on the type of content developed, its intended use, and the target audience.
Those tasked with curriculum reuse and repurposing will now have a guide on how to get started, how to set goals for the redesign plan, and what methods have proven to be effective. They will also have some examples to emulate and processes to follow to save time and gain customer confidence.
Curricula are often updated or repurposed based on job changes, ineffectiveness, and new ways of looking at the learning environment. When management intends to develop a learning, nurturing, and coaching environment in the workplace they often point to the curriculum as a place to begin to make cultural changes.
