Editor/Author Biographies

Luís Farinha holds a PhD in management. He is Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco and Assistant Professor and researcher at NECE - Research Center in Business Sciences, at the University of Beira Interior, in Portugal. His research career has focused on the links between entrepreneurship, innovation and regional competitiveness in national and international contexts. He is Founder and Dean of the Regional Helix – International Conference (http://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783319296753) and journal articles and book chapters. It is also linked to innovation and entrepreneurship programs in cooperation with business incubators and national business associations and sectoral clusters. Previously he was a manager in companies with businesses in the international market. He was a founding partner of two companies involved in the exploitation of renewable energies.

João Renato Sebastião is a Professor of Statistics at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. He received his PhD in Matehmatics from Beira Interior University, Portugal, in 2013. He has published several articles in specialized journals. Has carried out research in the area of Extreme Values Theory. It is also interested in the dissemination and transfer of knowledge through the application of Statistical Learning methods to real problems of society. He is also interested in R-project statistical software, data mining and knowledge extraction.
