Description & Coverage
Description:

Vehicle accidents on the roads and highways occur every minute of every day, most often resulting in a loss of life or property damage. With advancing technology, vehicle infrastructure integration can increase road safety and transport efficiency through wireless sensor communications and other systems. These recent developments can bring inestimable economic value and will play a role in the next generation of vehicle products and traffic safety.

Global Advancements in Connected and Intelligent Mobility: Emerging Research and Opportunities is an essential reference source that discusses the recent advances, safety, and efficiency in connected vehicles, as well as the next generation of communication network development. Featuring research on topics such as vehicular networks, telematics, and context-aware intelligence, this book is ideally designed for policymakers, traffic safety specialists, traffic control technicians, auto technicians, planning agencies, environmental managers, standardization governors, academicians, students, researchers, and industry practitioners seeking coverage on intelligent transportation systems.

She holds a MS degree in Networks and Telecommunications from The National Engineering School of Tunis El Manar. Dr. Fatma received her Ph.D. in Wireless Mobile Networks and Telecommunications from the University of Paris Sud 11, Orsay, France. During her Ph.D and Post Doc at Telecoms Sud Paris, France, Dr. Fatma has participated in several national and international research projects in Wireless and Mobile Networks, in collaboration with Alcatel Lucent, Thales, Orange Labs and other academic institutions in Europe. Prior to her current position at Zayed University, UAE, as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Fatma has joined Bouygues Telecoms in 2012, which is one of the three main Telecoms Operators/ISPs in France, as a “Wi-Fi Expert/Architect” for three years enabling negotiation of SLA agreements and defining technical support and incident management processes with different contributors and suppliers implementing internal and external processes as per ITIL recommendations.
Prof. dr. ir. Ansar-Ul-Haque Yasar (EUR ING) was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He finished his Bachelors of Computer Software Engineering degree from Foundation University Islamabad in 2005. Afterwards, he joined Linkoping University Sweden and finished his Masters in Computer Science and Engineering degree (specializing in Communication and Interactivity) in 2007. In November 2007, he joined the DistriNet research group at the Department of Computer Science of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and started his PhD research on context-based communication in large scale vehicular networks under the supervision of Prof. dr. ir. Yolande Berbers. During the course of his PhD studies, Dr. Yasar was involved in the Context-Aware Local Service Fabrics in Large Scale Ubicomp Environments (CoLaSUE) project funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). After finishing his PhD in Engineering in August 2011, he has worked as a postdoc researcher and a (part-time) professor at the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB), Hasselt University, Belgium since October 2011. At IMOB, he is working on the European FP7 project DATA SIM (2011 - 2014). Furthermore, a part of his current job includes international collaborations, projects, and business development at IMOB. He is also responsible for the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) course for the masters of transportation sciences students at UHasselt. His research interests include ubiquitous computing, context-aware communication, VANETs, intelligent transport systems, and mobility management. He has (co -) authored several research articles in renowned international journals, conferences, books, and workshops. Furthermore, he has been involved in organization of many international peer-reviewed conferences, summer schools, and other scientific events. Dr. Yasar is also a Technical Expert to evaluate project proposals submitted to the EUREKA - EuroStars framework. Dr. Yasar is multi-lingual with Urdu & Punjabi as native languages, has working proficiency of English, basic knowledge of Dutch (Flemish), and basic knowledge of Swedish.
