Description & Coverage
Description:

The proposed book, Technology-Mediated Language-Learning in Early Childhood, covers a range of topics centred on digital technology in early childhood language teaching, its importance, pedagogical beliefs, acquisition, early childhood education, information communication technology, and the role of teachers in facilitating digital play for language development. The book can provide much needed theoretical and practical guidance as well as incisive insights for university students and teachers on how to effectively utilise digital technology in language teaching for Foundation Phase learners. This book highlights the integration of digital technologies in early childhood education (ECE) learning spaces which will enhance young learners' emergent literacy skills through various e-learning formats (Jack & Higgins, 2019; Soyoof et al., 2024).

While significant advances have occurred in technology-mediated teaching and learning, with teachers worldwide implementing a wide range of technology-based lessons in their classrooms, especially with the migration to online teaching-learning since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been considerable interest and demand for the use of digital technologies in English-language teaching and learning contexts. This situation has precipitated an ever-increasing number of teachers to transition to this relatively new trend in English-language education.
