Lee Kean Yew

Lee Kean Yew was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to completing his PhD in Economics and Administration at Asia-Europe Institute, University Malaya, he is a academic director of Centre for Malaysia Chinese Studies undertakes scholarly work on Malaysia with special focus on the Chinese community and publishes its findings in books, conference proceedings or its bilingual journal. At the same time, he has been promoted as one of the associate researchers and associate members at both Department of Chinese Studies and Malaysian Chinese Research Centre (MCRC), University of Malaya by focusing in the research of overseas Chinese business and cultural studies. One of his job tasks is to promote mutual understanding and communication to tap the potential for cooperation between Malaysian Chinese and overseas companies. His research interests include entrepreneurial economics, innovation management, Chinese business studies, Asian ethnicity and development studies. His aim is to promote the interactions between Malaysian firms and governments, foster closer links among Malaysian and international business, thus contributing to the overall development of Malaysian-European or Malaysian-China economic and trade relations. He joined the International Council of Small Business (ICSB) since last year to promote the growth and development of small businesses in Malaysia. He has published more than 50 articles in the high impact ISI/SSCI/AHCI/SCOPUS indexing journal such as Asian Economic Papers, China Report, Journal of Asia Pacific Economy, Journal of Asian Business Studies, Journal of Contemporary Asia and South East Asia Journal. One of his masterpiece entitled: "Tacit knowledge innovation and enterprise development in Chinese family SMEs of Malaysia: Longitudinal case studies on plastic production across generational change" has won the best thesis award recognised by Taiwan Management Institute.
