Jennifer DeWaard

Jennifer DeWaard is an assistant professor for special education in the Teaching and Learning Unit at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She holds an Ed.D in Special Education Literacy Studies from Western Michigan University and serves on the Board of the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children. She served as a special education instructor and leader in West Ottawa Public Schools for twenty-eight years. She received the Departmental Level Graduate Research and Creative Scholar Award from Western Michigan University in 2019 and has been a nominee for an Ability Award (2018) and Michigan Teacher of the Year (2016). Research interests include special education evidence based practice, teacher preparation, and graduation requirements.
