Alexandra Kutnick

Alexandra Kutnick is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Developmental Psychologist. She is the founder of Morningside Counseling and Assessment where she specializes in treating people suffering from complex trauma, addiction, adjustment to stepparenting, divorce, new parenthood as well as those coping with serious health conditions such as cancer, HIV and autoimmune disease. She has a Ph.D. from New York University, an M.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed postdoctoral fellowships in substance abuse research and the treatment of complex trauma and has extensive experience in hospital, research and community-based settings. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kutnick has taught in several undergraduate and graduate programs and is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has been providing training, clinical supervision and consultation to therapists, research groups and community leaders for many years. Her publications and presentations at national and international conferences have examined the risk and protective factors affecting homeless youth, as well as have examined the complex intersection of socioeconomic disadvantage, structural racism, medical distrust, trauma and mental health and how these factors influence individuals’ psychological adaptation to serious illness.
