Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: October 30, 2024
Full Chapters Due: February 12, 2025
Submission Date: February 12, 2025

Introduction

For decades, nanomaterials have been widely recognized for their benefits in biological applications that are mostly contributed by the engineered structures for the capacity to carry chemicals and biomolecules to the target sites. In plant research and agricultural biotechnology, "nano-carriers" are expected to enhance plant growth and development by delivering a range of cargos including pesticides, fertilizer, growth regulators, biostimulants, and so on, and additionally, nucleic acids for genetic engineering and epigenetic modulations.

Objective

Although there is considerable literature in this field, the book resource is quite limited. Hence, this book attempts to fill the knowledge gap by providing a series of comprehensive chapters including fundamentals and molecular mechanisms of nanocarriers and highlighting the subtopics of their applications on genetic engineering, genome editing such as CRISPR-edited crops, delivering chemicals, biomolecules, biostimulants, pesticides, fertilizers. Additionally, critical types of nanocarriers are included such as biogenic nanocarriers, metallic nanocarriers, polymeric nanocarriers, and carbon nanotubes. Strategies based on nanocarriers for crop breeding and managing plant abiotic stress and diseases are proposed in this book. This book is a reference for readers in plant science, materials science, and agricultural biotechnology, to offer an efficient overview and inspire their ideas for future research.

Target Audience

Readers who are interested in plant nanotechnology, plant biotechnology, plant biology, agriculture, and materials science.

Recommended Topics

8. Nanocarriers in Plant Genome Editing

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before October 30, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by November 13, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by February 12, 2025, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Nanocarriers in Plant Science and Agriculture. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.

All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery® online submission manager.
