Introduction

Pharmaceutical research and development is fundamentally a problem of integration of existing information resources and knowledge generation. Knowing the molecule's potential molecular targets and the corresponding target functions is one thing. Understanding which physical functions need to be targeted, and how they can be manipulated to produce a given treatment effect, on the other hand, is something else completely. Biological science is the scientific study of life, from the simplest single-cell forms to the most complex animal and plant systems. Biologists work with living organisms to understand life processes. In addition, they study how the organisms interact with their environment. While problem-oriented applied research, people carry out research of a fundamental nature to learn.

Objective

The importance of devising and employing methods for coherent, dependable and reliable predictive biology modeling has been recognized, since the economic implications are so important. This is equally true at both industrial (pharmacology, agri-food and environment, etc.) and academic (health, research, etc.) levels. It is a commonly-held notion that modeling is essentially a computational issue. However, while this may apply to " non-continuous " or low-complexity information systems, it doesn't necessarily apply to " discrete " or hyper-complex information systems, like living ones, for instance. In these fields, modeling has become a computer-aided matter of biology, and not the reverse. In this publication, we attempt to develop the underlying principles, and use concrete applications to demonstrate them.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before October 13, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by October 20, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by November 24, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Technical Innovation and Modeling in the Biological Sciences. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.

All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery® online submission manager.
