Introduction

The artificial intelligence (AI) paradigm is unquestionably rapidly expanding to become a leading digital technology capable of creatively addressing a wide range of present and future business issues. There is a wide range of AI tools available, including advanced algorithms, versatile frameworks, reusable libraries, integrated platforms, specialized processors, automated toolkits, and optimization methods. AI model engineering, evaluation, optimization, deployment, observability, and improvement techniques are made more accessible through a range of helpful tools and methods. AI is having a significant impact on various business domains. Many industry verticals are carefully exploring and experimenting with AI to grasp its strategic potential. In recent years, AI has been a source of inspiration for the field of software engineering. Indeed, AI is streamlining various aspects of the software engineering lifecycle. AI supports software architects and engineers in developing high-quality and eco-friendly software applications. In addition to LLM-powered code creation, AI has become an increasingly vital tool in automated software testing. Just imagine the power of AIOps platforms and toolkits in gathering and analyzing operational data from various ICT systems and business workloads. They provide invaluable insights exactly when you need them. In addition, software security is guaranteed with the help of real-time and AI-powered security data analytics. Just like a skilled network architect, competent AI models elegantly fulfill the non-functional requirements/quality attributes of software systems, such as scalability, reliability, and availability. Thus, the complex software engineering is being enhanced, sped up, and automated through innovative advancements discovered and implemented in the AI field. Within this book, we aim to showcase the profound impact of AI on all aspects of software engineering. It revolutionizes the development, testing, debugging, delivery, deployment, execution, monitoring, management, and enhancement of software. As cloud-native principles continue to gain popularity, the landscape of software construction is poised for significant transformation. Software products, solutions, and services should be composed of purpose-specific and agnostic microservices. With the rapid maturation and stabilization of cloud-native architecture patterns, the software industry is eagerly embracing the cloud-native software engineering paradigm.

Objective

The book "Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Cloud-native Software Engineering" aims to explore the transformative impact of AI on the software engineering lifecycle, highlighting its role in automating and enhancing various stages of software development. It intends to provide a comprehensive overview of how AI technologies can assist software architects and engineers in creating high-quality, enterprise-grade software efficiently. The book will cover AI applications in requirements elicitation, code generation, testing, and deployment, demonstrating how AI tools can streamline processes and reduce cognitive overload for developers. Additionally, it will delve into the integration of AI within agile methodologies and cloud-native architectures, emphasizing the shift towards microservices and automated testing frameworks. By addressing both the benefits and challenges of AI implementation, this book seeks to contribute to current research by offering insights into best practices, emerging tools, and methodologies that leverage AI to improve software quality and delivery speed. Ultimately, it aims to serve as a valuable resource for software professionals looking to navigate the evolving landscape of AI-augmented software engineering, fostering innovation and efficiency in the field.

Target Audience

The book "Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Cloud-native Software Engineering" is primarily geared towards software engineers, architects, and developers who are involved in the software development lifecycle.
