Introduction

Advances in digital technology have driven public administration from new public administration (public administration 3.0) to digital public administration (public administration 4.0). In the same way, advances in artificial intelligence technology have driven digital public administration into super smart society (public administration 5.0). With official recognition of its existence as a separate era, it can be said that artificial intelligence is an important condition causing significant changes to public administration. Understanding it both in theory and in practice is therefore very important.

Objective

This edited book is a collection of the academic proposals of experts and the empirical findings of researchers from all over the world in the field of public administration and related interdisciplinary fields. It will be the most up-to-date information for those interested, can be used for teaching public administration and public management, and can be used to further interdisciplinary research.

Target Audience

Our target audience includes academics, researchers, and practitioners across public administration fields—encompassing public management, public policy, public budgeting & finance, organizational theory, and human resource management. We also cater to professionals in technology, particularly those focusing on the public administration dimensions of AI. Ultimately, this book is designed to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in the intersection of technology, public administration, and society.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before October 6, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by October 20, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by January 19, 2025, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Public Governance Practices in the Age of AI. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.
