Introduction

As globalisation has advanced the exchange of cultural ideas and practices, the exploration of multicultural dimensions in literary, linguistic and educational studies becomes of crucial utility in the direction of both enriching our understanding of various cultural narratives and of challenging and expanding the boundaries of deeply rooted mainstream literary, linguistic and educational frameworks. Multiculturality provides researchers with valuable insights into multiple cultural identities. Through this very approach, it encapsulates the experiences and voices of marginalised or overlooked communities and it vigorously supports cross-cultural understanding in its constant grip of hybridity and transculturalism. The fluidity of cultural boundaries and the dynamic nature of cultural identity make manifest the multifaceted aspects of multiculturality that become visible in the intersection of nuanced cultural contexts, patterns and environments of an increasingly interconnected world. Surveying the multicultural dimensions of the literary, linguistic and educational fields develops into a fascinating and expansive topic dedicated to examining the interdependence and reciprocity of diverse, divergent and convergent, cultures that can help people navigate within a more inclusive and incorporating multicultural world.

Objective

This book will aim to provide a thorough understanding of the most relevant theoretical frameworks that underpin the study of multicultural dimensions in literature, linguistics and education and to delineate the latest research findings that highlight the dynamic interactions between cultures within diverse settings and landscapes. It will serve as a valuable resource for specialists who wish to improve their apprehension of the complex interplay of cultures and of their cross-cultural reverberations with a view to ponder and rethink the rapports between the individuals and the world within the multifaceted spectrum of contemporaneity. Due to the rapidly expanding transformations, the book encourages an aesthetic and anthropological resumptionn of thoughts, practices, discourses and representations of the cultural heritage of contemporariness in terms of an inward and outward turn that will restore neglected dimensions of human nature and will interrogate and reevaluate deep-seated articulations, modes of existence and patterns. The study offers professionals and researchers the opportunity to appropriate complex mindsets that situate them beyond highly standardised knowledge and determine them to contend that there exists one major common-sense assumption that paradigms need to be permanently confronted both in their abundance and in their limitations. This process of reevaluation is rooted in both acknowledging the contributions and inaccuracies of cultural practices and structures that give voice to the experiences of different communities with a view to fostering a more expansive and unprejudiced understanding of cultural dynamics.

Target Audience

The generosity and topicality of the concept of “multiculturality” encourages researchers to tackle and exploit the multifarious cultural effects of the clash between stability and instability, continuity and discontinuity in literature, linguistics and education that is reflected in a new perspective on cross-cultural thinking. The original contributions will address the dynamics and large-scale implications of the recent problematics and patterns of cross-cultural representations on a broad range of topics related to the intersection of multiculturalism, literature, linguistics and education. The target audience of this book will be constituted of professionals and researchers working in the fields of literature, linguistics and education in various disciplines, e.g. literary theory and criticism, cultural studies, comparative literature, translation studies, postcolonial literature, creative writing, eco-criticism, sociolinguistics, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, anthropological linguistics, discourse analysis, language teaching, special education, multicultural education, continuing education, educational research methods, social and emotional learning. Furthermore, the book will provide valuable insights that will support experts concerned with the integration of cultural differences aimed at promoting multicultural awareness and a sense of cultural validation.
