Introduction

In this book, we look at the cutting-edge technology of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and how it will shape the future of wireless communication networks, particularly 6G. Wireless communication has evolved through several generations, from 1G to 5G, with each iteration bringing dramatic advances in connectivity, speed, and efficiency. As we approach the 6G era, the incorporation of innovative technologies like as RIS promises to transform how we view and use wireless networks. However, immense promise brings significant problems. Throughout this book, we want to thoroughly investigate these issues. From the challenges of RIS design and deployment to the complications of integrating RIS into existing and future 6G infrastructure, we look at the technical, practical, and legal barriers that must be overcome in order to realize the full promise of this technology. Furthermore, this book is a practical reference for researchers, engineers, and industry people looking to comprehend the complexities of RIS technology in the 6G scenario. We share insights on current research trends, new applications, and predicted future advancements with the goal of fostering creativity and accelerating the use of RIS in next-generation wireless networks. Ultimately, "Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces in 6G: Challenges and Applications" promises to be a valuable resource for anybody interested in investigating RIS' transformational possibilities and its role in determining the future of wireless communication in the 6G era. Join us as we explore the complexity, prospects, and ramifications of this new technology.

Objective

This book is to provide comprehensive knowledge and understanding of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) in the context of 6G communication networks. This includes explaining the fundamental principles, technologies, and advancements in RIS. To explore the challenges associated with integrating RIS into 6G networks, such as design considerations, implementation issues, and performance optimization. To discuss the wide range of potential applications where RIS can be deployed within 6G networks, such as improving coverage, capacity, energy efficiency, and enabling new communication paradigms to provide practical guidance for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals interested in understanding, developing, and deploying RIS technologies in 6G networks.

Target Audience

The Target audience includes Researchers, Academicians, Engineers and Technologists, Graduate Students, Policy Makers and Regulators, Industry Analysts and Consultants, Technology Enthusiasts and Educators. The book attempts to provide both scientific depth and practical applicability, making it appropriate for a wide range of audiences, including academic researchers, industry experts, and policymakers interested in the future of wireless communications.
