Introduction

These days, geospatial research is facing both enormous new potential and challenges due to artificial intelligence (AI). Theoretical advances, large data, computer hardware (such as the graphics processing unit, or GPU), and high-performance computing platforms that enable the creation, training, and deployment of AI models in a reasonable amount of time are the main drivers of its rapid development. There have been notable developments in the field of geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), which is the fusion of AI with geospatial research, particularly in the areas of machine learning, deep learning, and the most recent advancements in AI technology in both academia and industry. GeoAI can be considered a research area for creating intelligent computer programs that replicate human perception, spatial reasoning, and the process of learning about geographical phenomena and dynamics in order to increase knowledge.

Objective

Geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) refers to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) that is combined with geospatial data, research, and technology in order to expedite the knowledge of economic prospects, environmental consequences, and operational risks in the real world. Automation of data generation and the development of spatial tools and algorithms that are easily accessible and are helping organizations to modernize their processes so that they can run at larger scale. This book includes many topics related to Geospatial AI, ranging from integrating AI and ML with geospatial data to future perspectives about geospatial AI, and several other topics.

Target Audience

The target audience for the book are undergraduate, postgraduate students, researchers and practitioners interested in knowing recent trends in Geospatial AI.

Recommended Topics

1) Geospatial AI Basics 2) Integration of AI and ML with geospatial data 3) Integration of Internet of things (IOT) and geospatial AI 4) Implementing Geospatial AI with computer vision 5) Using Geospatial AI in the field of flood prediction 6) City heat mapping 7) Traffic flow optimization 8) High Resolution remote sensing imagery 9) Spatiotemporal data engineering and outlier detection 10) Hyperspectral Images 11) Vehicle detection 12) Geospatial data in smart cities 13) Benefits and opportunities of Geospatial AI adoption 14) Challenges facing geospatial AI 15) Future perspectives about geospatial AI

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before July 25, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by August 8, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by October 17, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Recent Trends in Geospatial AI. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.

All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery® online submission manager.
