Introduction

Sustainable consumption emerges as a novel paradigm to tackle the dilemma of unsustainable production and consumption and it is the focus of Goal 12 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Goal 12 is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is about ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, for sustain the livelihoods of current and future generations. Although our economy and businesses have benefited greatly from industrial growth and profitability in recent decades, the resources of our world are finite and depleting due to unsustainable practices and consumption pattern. . Despite the growing interest in sustainable practices, and sustainable fashion, fast fashion brands still remain dominant in terms of market share. shopping decisions and preferences. Unfortunately, fast fashion problems are often overlooked by consumers and there is need to give it attention. Businesses and companies across industries need to embrace environmentally friendly business and manufacturing processes (Olubiyi, 2023; Olubiyi, Omoyele, Ilodigwe, Adeoye, Makinde, & Ravinder, 2024).

Objective

The objective of this book is to promote awareness of sustainable business practices, sustainable fashion, and consumer preference for fast fashion versus sustainable fashion. It is said that the fashion business is the world's second most polluting industry, endangering our planet and its resources (Khurana, & Muthu, 2022). This book will increase customers' awareness about the environmental impact of their shopping decisions and preferences. Therefore this book will provide scholarly contributions that will focus on many research questions, around sustainable practices in businesses, fast fashion, and sustainable fashion. Consequently relevant questions to be addressed by the edited book may include: • How can businesses adopt sustainable practices to organize more effectively and also achieve sustainability? • What is fast fashion and its dark side? • How businesses can embrace the sustainable fashion opportunities? • How to understand how much customers are aware of sustainability in small businesses and in the fast fashion industry? • How to achieve green fashion and sustainable shopping? • How to accelerate sustainable fashion shopping and create more business opportunities • How to engage consumers on product durability and impact-per-wear information? • How can small businesses align more with SDGs? • How can businesses help consumers find, understand, and purchase more sustainable products. • What are the ethical considerations when deploying sustainable business practices?

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before July 11, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 25, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by October 3, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Global Impacts and Sustainable Practices in Fast Fashion. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.
