Call for Chapters: Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment and Care: Reflections for the Education of Survivors and Healthcare Providers

The proposed conceptual framework that will undergird the development of this edited volume was constructed from the idea that the reflections of those members of the world community who work in the field of education and healthcare and who have cared for a cancer patient; is a cancer survivor and, who have experienced and are experiencing grief, as a result of the loss of a loved one from cancer, should have a voiced opportunity to share with any of us in the fields of Education, Healthcare and public service (Applebaum et al., 2024; Cai et al., 2024; Clarke et al., 2022; Festvåg et al., 2024; Galligan et al., 2024; Gudenkauf et al., 2024; Institute of Medicine and National Research Council et al., 1999; Miniotti et al., 2024; Phiri et al., 2024; Stiefel, 2006; Thakor & Gambhir, 2013; Todres et al., 2009; Wilharm et al., 2024; Yackel et al., 2024; Zhang et al., 2024).

According to the World Health Organization, as cited from its website: Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, accounting for an estimated 9.6 million deaths, or 1 in 6 deaths, in 2018. Lung, prostate, colorectal, stomach and liver cancer are the most common types of cancer in men, while breast, colorectal, lung, cervical and thyroid cancer are the most common among women. Consequently, the editors are seeking to construct this volume with the notion that “we are the world” (Richie et al., 2006) as a community of contributors to the education of the mind, body and soul of humanity through the fields of education and healthcare with the diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer, so the voices from these communities and others associated with these communities such as first providers and anyone who wants to honor someone who influenced the life of a contributor to humanity should have a space to reflect and educate.

The conceptual outline for the proposed book will seek to give space for contributions that are proposed as suggested from the table below:

The objectives of this book are to bring awareness to the fact that patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and survivors, as well as the reflective shared experiences of those who are experiencing and have experienced grief, should have a voiced opportunity to share with those who are in the fields of education, healthcare and public service.

Reflectively and through research-informed constructs that may posit informed possible solutions, and even, for any licensed contributors, reflections about cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care. The overarching objective is to offer book chapters that can be tied together by a requested commitment to the development of chapters that provide at least the following subsections for the accepted chapters:

• An overview of the authors' purpose for the chapter

This book is geared towards cancer survivors, caretakers, and healthcare professionals.

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before May 14, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by May 28, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 28, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment and Care: Reflections for the Education of Survivors and Healthcare Providers. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.

All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery^® online submission manager.
