New Release Explores Changes & Challenges to EIS

The continual development and refinement of enterprise information systems (EIS) is essential for organizational advancement. As such, it continues to be an area of research, study, and innovation for academics and professionals alike.

The Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems (CENTERIS) "address[es] the largely multidisciplinary field embraced by the Enterprise Information Systems, from the social, organizational and technological perspectives" ( www.eiswatch.org/centeris2010). Conference Chairs, Maria Manuela Cruz-Cunha, Ph.D., (Polytechnic Institute of Cavado and Ave, Portugal), and João Eduardo Varajão, Ph.D., (University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Duoro, Portugal), in collaboration with information science and technology publisher, IGI Global, invited conference participants to enhance selected papers for contribution to their recently released publication, Enterprise Information Systems Design, Implementation and Management: Organizational Applications.

This outstanding edited collection discusses the main issues, challenges, opportunities and developments related with enterprise information systems from the social, managerial and organizational perspectives, and contribute[s] to the dissemination of current achievements, practical solutions, and applications in the field. In addition, it investigates the creation and implementation of enterprise information systems, while covering a wide array of topics such as flow-shop scheduling, information systems outsourcing, ERP systems utilization, Dietz transaction methodology, and advanced planning systems.

With 30+ chapters, contributed by international EIS experts, this essential reference provides a comprehensive and in-depth representation of the state-of-the-art approaches and developments that address the several dimensions of this fast evolutionary thematic.

As explained by the editors, "the book provides researchers, scholars, professionals with some of the most advanced research, solutions and discussions of enterprise information systems design, implementation and management, and is targeted to be read by academics (teachers, researchers and students of several graduate and postgraduate courses) and by professionals of Information Technology, IT managers, Information Resources managers, Enterprise managers (including top level managers), and also technology solutions developers."
