Professor Zaitsev is Editor of the video lecture series "Petri Nets for Modeling and Computing"

The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences Accepts Professor Dmitry Zaitsev's New Integer Sequence

IGI Global Editor Travels To Myanmar IGI Global editor Professor Dmitry Zaitsev of the International Humanitarian University, Odessa, Ukraine recently submitted a new approved integer sequence to The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. John von Neumann, a Hungarian-American pure and applied mathematician, physicist, inventor, and polymath, studied self-reproducing cellular automata with a “cross shaped” neighborhood on a plane. Professor Zaitsev developed a diamond-shaped neighborhood that generalizes it on multidimensional space with a radius greater than one. Zaitsev numbers specifies the number of cells on a surface of a diamond-shaped neighborhood while Delannoy numbers specify the total number of cells in this neighborhood. Massively parallel computing on cellular automata will break through the obstacle of intractable tasks on which the humankind works since the middle of twentieth century.

Professor Zaitsev recently published the IGI Global video lecture series "Petri Nets for Modeling and Computing" which presents recent developments in Petri net theory and petri net applications for automated manufacturing, networking, and computing. Including a variety of applied techniques, practical examples, and tools for implementation, this video lecture series is ideal for use by programmers, IT specialists, mathematicians, engineers, and graduate-level students in relevant fields of study. Dmitry A. Zaitsev received an Engineering degree in applied mathematics from Donetsk Polytechnic Institute, Donetsk, Ukraine, in 1986, as well as a Ph.D. in automated control from the Kiev Institute of Cybernetics, Kiev, Ukraine, in 1991, and a Dr.Sc. degree in telecommunications from the Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications, Odessa, Ukraine, in 2006. Since 2009, he has been with International Humanitarian University, Odessa, where he is currently a Professor of Computer Engineering. He developed the analysis of infinite Petri nets with regular structure, the decomposition of Petri nets in clans, and the method of synthesis of fuzzy logic function given by tables. His current research interests include Petri net theory and its application in networking, production control, and computing.
