Dr. Leng In support of the accomplished researchers and faculty members associated with IGI Global publications, IGI Global is proud to continue the Dr. Patricia Cranton Outstanding Scholars Program. This program honors in memory one of our most acclaimed research scholars, the late Dr. Patricia Cranton, Professor of Adult Education. We are pleased to continue this series by recognizing Dr. Ho Keat Leng, Assistant Professor in Physical Education and Sports Science at the National Institute of Education, Singapore. Here, Dr. Leng speaks on his experience in academic publishing.
IGI Global: Tell us about yourself. How did you become involved with IGI Global?

Dr. Ho Keat Leng: I am a faculty member at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. My area of expertise is in Sports Marketing although it spans into Social Media Marketing. I have published more than 20 journal publications and more than 30 conference papers. My h-index, according to Google Scholar, stands at 5. To date, I have been awarded more than S$150,000 in research funding. I have been invited to give keynote presentations at several conferences. Recently, I was also invited to give a presentation at UNESCO International Conference 2016 on “The Development of Youth through Sport Activities” hosted by the Korea Institute of Sport Science.

I became involved with IGI Global when I contributed a journal paper to International Journal of Technology and Educational Marketing in 2012. Subsequently, I went on to contribute 5 books chapters with IGI Global from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, I also took on the co-editorship of the book Emerging Trends and Innovation in Sports Marketing and Management in Asia. Currently, I am the guest editor for another IGI Journal, the International Journal of Asian Business and Information Management for a special issue on Sports and Leisure Marketing in Asia.

Why do you choose IGI Global as your publisher?

The experience that I have with IGI Global in publishing my works have been excellent. In particular, I received excellent support from IGI Global in my edited book project. I continue to enjoy the same high level of support in my current role as guest editor of International Journal of Asian Business and Information Management. IGI Global also has a strong network of fellow academics. Through IGI Global, I acquainted myself with many scholars, with some of them becoming my collaborators in my research projects.

How do you achieve success in regards to your publication? How do you increase the chances for positive reviews and indexing?

I use my published research in my lessons as well as presentations to various institutions, academic associations and industry bodies. Where the copyright permits, I make my publications available to participants to disseminate the findings of my research. For IGI publications, I point out to participants how they can access the publication eg through IGI website where participants may purchase the journal paper or book chapter. For my book, Emerging Trends and Innovation in Sports Marketing and Management in Asia, I also make it a point to introduce it to fellow colleagues for them to recommend a copy to their libraries or research centres. The response that I have received so far have been very favorable.
