IGI Global to Convert the Remainder of Its Journal Collection to Gold Open Access in 2023

By IGI Global Open Access Division on Jun 20, 2022
Following the first conversion of a portion of IGI Global’s hybrid open access/subscription-based journals to gold open access (OA) in 2021, and then again in 2022, IGI Global is pleased to announce that the remainder of their hybrid open access/subscription-based journal collection will officially convert to gold OA beginning January 1st, 2023, meaning that moving forward all IGI Global journals will be published under full OA, and IGI Global’s collection of journals will contain 175 gold OA and one platinum OA journal.
All of these journals can be easily accessed directly through their respective webpages, and libraries are able to easily integrate them into their discovery system through IGI Global’s OA collection. Additionally, all of IGI Global’s journals are seeking submissions and authors can benefit from having their research become widely accessible. To learn more about open access with IGI Global, please visit IGI Global’s OA Journal webpage.

Journals to be Converted to OA for the 2023 Volume Year:
IGI Global OA journals operate with open access processing charges paid by the author or another funding source or sources. Article Processing Charges (APCs) are not requested until AFTER the article manuscript has gone through a double-blind peer review process and is accepted into its respective publication. Authors of rejected manuscripts are not expected to pay an APC.
APCs exist to offset the fees of publication that were originally covered by subscription or reading costs of IGI Global’s publications. Since these publications are no longer bought or subscribed to by outside individuals or institutions, OA processing charges are crucial to sustain the publications and the publisher’s workflow. Information regarding OA funding resources can be found here. Please note that OA Agreements are an excellent source of OA funding for researchers.
For the journals converting in January of 2023, all article manuscripts submitted September 1, 2022 onward will be processed through as open access submissions in preparation for the 2023 conversion.
For more information regarding publishing under OA, the recently converted OA journals, or IGI Global’s open access agreements and transformative options, please contact IGI Global’s Open Access Division at openaccessadmin@igi-global.com.
