IGI Global Authors' Research to be Featured at HIMSS Asia Pacific 2015 Conference

Improving Health Management through Clinical Decision Support SystemsHIMSS Asia Pacific works to shape the healthcare industry through encouraging the use of technology and promoting public policies that will improve healthcare delivery. Held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from September 6th-10th, this year's conference expects a turnout of anywhere from 1,000-2,000 attendees.

IGI Global author Mr. Richard Royle, Executive Director of UnitingCare Health (UCH), is a featured Keynote speaker at the event. Richard Royle and Connie Harmsen are authors of the forthcoming case study chapter "St Stephen’s Hospital Hervey Bay: A Case Study of Developing a Digital Hospital".

St Stephens, a new hospital in Queensland, is receiving an award at HIMSS Asia Pacific 2015 as the first and only hospital in Australia to have achieved HIMSS Stage 6 certification, and the hospital is also a finalist for the Achievement Award to be announced at the conference.

The case study gives multiple positive examples of UCH and global EMR system Cerner working together to create SSHB, the first Stage 6 HIMSS hospital in Australia. It will be used as class reading materials by Dr. Mark Brommeyer in his HC Informatics class at Flinders Uni as part of the Masters in HC Administration program, which he is teaching in China, Singapore, and Australia. The chapter is featured in the title Improving Health Management through Clinical Decision Support Systems, edited by Jane D. Moon (The University of Melbourne, Australia) and Mary P. Galea (The University of Melbourne, Australia).
