Consortia Update: Carolina Consortia Annual Meeting and PALCI Annual Member Meeting

Carolina Consortia Annual Meeting

As a part of IGI Global’s commitment to providing librarians with affordable solutions, IGI Global representatives travelled down to University of North Carolina-Greensboro to attend the 2018 Carolina Consortia Annual Meeting on May 5. With over 185 public libraries, seminary schools, community colleges, public universities, and private institutions in the Carolina Consortium, IGI Global met with top institution librarians.

“It was exciting to meet with librarians from the East Coast and discuss their holdings to see how we can truly maximize their investment,” stated Caroline Campbell, Marketing Manager. “Many already had IGI Global publications and through our credit program we could give them 100% credits to go towards one of our larger collections that showcase our transparent and simple pricing.”

Additionally, during the annual meeting, Nick Newcomer, Director of Marketing, and Caroline Campbell hosted a 5-minute presentation showcasing all of the exciting and new initiatives that IGI Global had unveiled that year including offering InfoSci-Journals, a collection of 175+ scholarly journals, for an annual subscription as low as US$ 4,950 and their new Open Access Initiative.

Announced in April, IGI Global’s new Open Access Initiative provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to affordably publish Open Access and provides librarians with an opportunity to market the content they acquire. For any library that invests in an IGI Global journal database, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the open access article processing charge (APC) for their students, faculty, and staff at that institution when their work is submitted and accepted under open access into an IGI Global journal housed within that collection.* To take advantage of this opportunity purchase InfoSci-Journals or one of IGI Global’s smaller journal collections today!

IGI Global would like to thank Beth Bernhardt and everyone who assisted in putting together the successful event and we look forward to next year! For more information on IGI Global’s partnership with the Carolina Consortia click here.

PALCI Annual Meeting

The next month, the duo travelled to Villanova where they attended and represented the company at the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) Annual Member Meeting. With nearly 90 participants from over 47 institutions, the meeting took place at the Inn at Villanova and IGI Global was able to connect with librarians from top institutions including University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

“It was exciting to see many librarians we knew and continue conversations regarding our new initiatives,” said Nick Newcomer, Director of Marketing. “We are excited to continue to collaborate with PALCI and would like to thank Jill Morris and her team for putting together a successful event.”
