What was the driving force or motivation for starting your chapter?
Prof Islamli: Considering Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan as post-Soviet natural resources-rich countries, it is worth mentioning the advantages and disadvantages of oil while discussing the economy.
What specific problems does your chapter address? Prof. Islamli: Economies of the countries that depend on oil revenues experience shock periods when the oil price decreases. In this case, the need to investigate the ways for economic survival arises to combat negative economic consequences.
How does the chapter provide a solution to these problems?
Prof. Islamli:The chapter studies the commonality of issues that countries faced and specifically deeply explores Azerbaijan’s social package. The social package, known as the “Azerbaijani model,” offers many solutions including handling tools.
How does your professional background and experience support your ability to be an authoritative contributor on this chapter's coverage?
Prof. Islamli: I have been working as a researcher at the think tank at the Center for Economic and Social Development in Baku, Azerbaijan, since 2020. My degree is from Azerbaijan State University of Economics as well. It has been 4 years that I have been researching various topics related to economic and social fields.
