Abstract
When considering an event, we need a sample of events to study. We will often start with a few example events that are ‘sort of what we want to study' and, from there, develop a deeper and more comprehensive focused category of events. Then, the overall sample consists of examples of this abstract category of events. When a good sample has been collected, the progress and analysis steps are relatively straightforward. However, failure to collect a good sample or skipping key considerations may doom a sample to become unusable and non-viable, risking the overall project. Although there are similarities, the process and considerations may be quite different from those of survey sampling that many readers may be familiar with.

Standards in Yoga Research and Reporting
Sample size describes the number of participants within a study. Since we cannot feasibly test everyone in most populations, we rely on a subset or sample of the population who is willing to participate in the study. Researchers will calculate power to determine that they have a large enough sample size in order to achieve significance with the expected effect size.
