A theoretical frame which considers that sexism has two components: hostile and benevolent sexism. Hostile sexism refers to overtly negative gender evaluations and stereotypes. Benevolent sexism represents gender evaluations that may appear subjectively positive, but are actually damaging to people and gender equality more broadly.
