Abstract

For university professors, qualities like maintaining well-being, striking a work-life balance, and roles result expectations are all psychologically taxing. It partially depends on how one perceives and interprets the situations and events that one encounters in life. Using concepts like “anasakti,” Indian psychologists have attempted to understand the usefulness and significance of Indian metaphysical notions in dealing with difficult situations. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, this study examined the relationship between work-life balance, roles and outcomes expectations, anasakti, mental health, and life happiness among university professors. Anasakti was found to be a highly significant predictor of life satisfaction, mental health, and work-life balance.

Work-Life Balance

The concepts of “work-life balance” and “work-personal life reconciliation” are frequently used to emphasise which facets of life should be assimilated and harmonised, dividing working from non-working life, and emphasising that peaceful settlement is essential not only for work and home life but also for endeavours linked to faith, civic engagement, instructional practices, and many other activities (Korpa, 2012). According to scientific and practical research (Galvez et al., 2020; Uresha, 2020; Cartmill, 2020), telecommuting is one of the tools for work-life balance. However, it should be kept in mind that the COVID-19 crisis for workers with dependent kids changed the regular activities of the personal sphere, commitments, and timeframe (Power, 2020; Eurofound, 2017). Regardless of the sort of work they do or the number of hours they put in, it is crucial to allow employees to balance their professional and personal lives given that the current crisis has increased the use of telecommuting (Lonska et al., 2021).
