This has had a major impact on the medical tourism industry. With an emphasis on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), this study explores how medical tourism is changing as a result of modern technologies. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a compelling case study to examine the dynamic interaction between technology and the emerging sector of medical tourism (Heydari Fard et al., 2021). The UAE is recognized for its quick technological breakthroughs and dedication to becoming a global powerhouse for healthcare. Modern healthcare facilities and state-of-the-art medical technology have made the United Arab Emirates a popular destination for medical tourists looking for specialized and high-quality care (Basheer, Farooq, et al., 2023). Technological developments in telemedicine, robots, artificial intelligence, and data analytics have bolstered this shift by improving healthcare delivery efficiency and broadening the range of medical tourism services offered in the area.
For instance, the use of telemedicine has made post-treatment follow-ups and remote consultations easier, increasing the accessibility of healthcare services for patients from abroad (Basheer, Walia, et al., 2023). There is a long history of people marketing specific locations as health retreats, dating back to the spas of the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Sumerians as well as the alpine and seaside health resorts of early modern Europe (Dash, 2020).
