Abstract

Agricultural robots play a unique role in the development of digital agriculture and offer a variety of benefits to farming productivity. Since the first industrial robots were developed in the 1950s, both science and business have started to pay attention to robotics. Agricultural robots have rapidly evolved as a result of recent developments in computer science, sensing, and control methods, relying on a variety of cutting-edge technologies for a variety of application scenarios. In fact, combining strategies for observation, decision-making, control, and execution has resulted in considerable advancements. However, because they are not integrated with artificial intelligence, the majority of agricultural robots still require intelligence solutions, confining them to limited applications with low volume production. The authors analyse the advantages and difficulties associated with future applications in the present moment as they bring together various agricultural robot research statuses and applications.

2. Modern Harvesting Robotic Systems In Agriculture: Revolutionizing The Future Of Farming

Agriculture has always been a fundamental aspect of human civilization. However, with the growing global population and the need to ensure food security, traditional farming practices alone are insufficient to meet the demands. One of the major bottlenecks in agriculture is harvesting, which is time-consuming and labour-intensive. To overcome these challenges, modern harvesting robotic systems have emerged as a promising solution. These robots offer increased efficiency, precision, and scalability while reducing the reliance on manual labour (Raj et al., 2019) (Feng et al., 2020) (Peng et al., 2020).
