Introduction

While employment, which is one of the important indicators of the economy, is accepted as the basic input of macro indicators such as the level of development, it provides detailed information about the current situation and future potential of countries. Apart from its visible and known effects, the fact that it has long-term sociological effects makes the subject important. In the economic system, the household, which provides labor supply in terms of production factors, takes place as a consumer in the goods and services market and becomes one of the basic elements that provide mobility in the economy. For this reason, there is even debate over whether to focus on general skills (LME) or specific skills (CME) for the talents of the workforce. Because it is important to protect and develop the skills of the workforce in coordinated market economies (Harcourt & Wood, 2007). However, the rapid and variable nature of financial flow may not always act by human nature.

Especially in developing and underdeveloped countries, the asymmetrical situation between labor supply and demand makes it difficult to find a job and to provide a fair income. In this case, first, the individual, then the family, the economy of the country, and the global position of the country are affected. Thus, even the effective use of local resources, which have the advantage of providing a competitive advantage to countries, is not in question, and as a result, country policies that want to attract foreign investors support this injustice and create an environment suitable for exploitation. structure (Konings et al., 2001; Song et al., 2023). While this affects both people and nature, it also paves the way for problems that will lead to global famines in the long run. The rapid evolution of inevitable changes such as digitalization continues to shape life as resources that have the potential to increase the direction and impact of this change (Ince, 2023a). Therefore, the unemployment problem of a country is more than just a problem that concerns that society, it contains details and has the potential to affect a large audience in the long run with the butterfly effect.

Discovering the fundamental problems involved in a chain reaction concept and proposing solutions can be more complex than it seems. A more detailed image emerges than expected, as elements such as human psychology, expectations, and the level of finding life meaningful are added to the concept of unemployment, which develops under the influence of many internal and external factors (Howard et al., 1986). Therefore, it is not enough to blame global businesses that have the potential to put pressure on natural resources and people. It will also be one-sided to criticize the political decisions that cause the economic order to function in its current state. On the other hand, it is not enough to think that the individual does not try hard enough to find a job or do his best to contribute to the organization from a micro point of view. All mentioned parties are interest groups that have the potential to affect each other and cause current results in mutual interaction (Herriot, 2013; Ince, 2018a). This means that it is necessary to look at the organizational and individual elements simultaneously, both globally and locally, especially concerning disguised unemployment. Therefore, multidisciplinary studies may be more successful in terms of seeing the sociological and psychological effects of an economic decision. Therefore, it will provide valuable data when all variables can be handled and interpreted from the right angle. Because of this point of view, in this part of the book, the issue of disguised unemployment has been tried to be deepened by considering both national, organizational, and individual aspects.

This chapter tries to draw attention to the social and psychological aspects of unemployment by going beyond the details covered by economics and if at any time it could be one of the causes of corruption. Unemployment is covered implicitly and it is aimed to draw attention to the parts that are ignored in the calculations. For this purpose, firstly the human nature in the business environment and then the factors of commitment that may cause disguised unemployment are mentioned. After the title in which the types of disguised unemployment are mentioned, the dark side of the organizations is mentioned and the reasons that push the individual to certain psychological states are tried to be detailed. Finally, after the last part where solution strategies are discussed, it is aimed to raise awareness in the reader.
