Abstract
As the integration of components are increasing from VLSI to ULSI level. This may lead to damage of electronic system because each component has its own operating characteristics and conditions. So, health prognostic techniques are used that comprise a deep insight into failure cause and effects of all the components individually as well as an integrated technique. It will raise alarm, in case health condition, of the components drift from the desired outcomes. From toy to satellite and sand to silicon, the major key constraint of designing and manufacturing industry are towards enhanced operating performance at less operating time. As the technology advances towards high-speed and low-cost gadgets, reliability becomes a challenging issue.
TopUse Of Electronics In Various Industries
The electronics industry is complex, consisting of several diverse components, technologies, process, materials and devices, ranging from higher order to Nano-order with multiple faces(Moore, 2006). The use of electronics improves industrial performance, due to their size, price, speed and ability to store information. Use of electronics is increasing on faster pace in every segment of manufacturing and design industry. In fact, we come into contact with them every day in such areas as transportation, communications, entertainment, instrumentation and control, aviation, IT, banking, medical appliances, home appliances, manufacturing etc. In world of technical competition, the effective relationship between electronics lifecycle and reliability is becoming complex and crucial(Martin, 1999). In recent years, electronics have been used for various applications in numerous industries, including the following:
1. Aviation:Avionic systems include various communications, navigation, control, display and other factors which consist of thousands of electronic components that can fit into an aircraft. This industry demands higher safety, control, reliability prediction and maintenance to continue operations without experiencing failures.
2. Automobile:With the expansion of the automobile industry, there is a growing need or environmental protection, need of safety and security along with fuel efficiency. As the technology advances, the manufacturers of automobile industry offer variety of electronic systems to their customers. For example, the safety systems depend on electronic circuits. The ECU (engine control unit) provides dashboard information on fuel and oil levels, speed, gearing and engine revolutions (via the tachometer). Other electronic systems include FPGA (field programmable gate array), ASIC (application specific integrated circuits) and SOC(system on chip) (Kulshreshtha, 2009).
