Abstract

The 21st century has ushered in a transformative era of global politics characterized by unprecedented interconnectedness, technological disruption, and the erosion of traditional state boundaries. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, traditional notions of sovereignty and territoriality are being challenged. This new reality requires a rethinking of governance structures and international cooperation. This chapter explores the concept of a “postinternational world,” a paradigm shift marked by the rise of transnational actors, the blurring of national borders, and a diffusion of power beyond traditional nation-states. The chapter delves into the key drivers of this postinternational shift, including technological advancements, globalization, and the emergence of non-state actors. It also examines the implications for international relations, security, and the future of global governance.
