Background

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an emergency that has almost brought the globe to a halt, with industries that help the economy to thrive, and tourism is one of the world's most impacted industries. Governments worldwide have also put rigorous travelling restrictions and social limitations in place to combat disease transmission. In some major countries such as China and Russia, domestic tourism is still increasing and domestic demand for air travel has mainly reverted to pre-COVID levels. Asian and Pacific respondents were most enthusiastic about domestic tourism's contribution to the rehabilitation of locations, reports (UNWTO, 2020). In destinations, hygiene and health conditions might be key determinants for visitors' travel selections. In this challenging scenario that provides the tourism sector with a chance to improve, sustainable segments (rural, natural, and health) need to be given importance. The first objective of the study is to discuss emerging new travel trends due to travel restrictions. The second is to identify the tourist's preferences among the new travel trends post-pandemic.
