Impact of Corona-Virus on Local Economic Development in Zwelisha Community, Durban, South Africa

Abstract

Multifaceted impacts of the pandemic on local economies and provided insights into the strategies and policies that can foster recovery and resilience. Furthermore, the chapter used qualitative research methods, such as interviews to capture the experiences and perceptions of local businesses, entrepreneurs, government officials, and community members. The chapter's findings could contribute to understanding the complex dynamics between pandemics, local economies, and economic development. By examining the impact of COVID-19 on local economic development, this chapter found evidence-based decision-making strategies that could contribute to developing strategies that can mitigate the adverse effects of pandemics on local economies, ultimately leading to more sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
