Abstract

The internet and its proliferation have had a profound impact on various fields such as science, industry, and medical computer networks. This has resulted in improved medical treatments. Telemedicine serves as a connection between the fields of medicine and engineering, allowing the medical community to utilize engineering resources in order to enhance the well-being of the population. Smart surgery is a form of remote surgery where a surgeon operates on a patient from a distance. The surgeon operates remotely via communication tools, highlighting the intriguing potential of this technology. Telemedicine can be employed during surgery to establish communication with another specialist regarding the feasibility of the procedure. Televisions can serve as a means for postoperative monitoring, while robotic surgeons enable proficient medical professionals to do minimally invasive surgery (MIS) with remote-controlled surgical robots, delivering expert treatment from distant sites.

1. Introduction

Through the utilization of contemporary technology and software simulation, it is feasible to assist the medical tourism sector in providing medical care to patients worldwide, particularly those who are unable to relocate, in order to treat their patients. Thus, in this chapter, we examine all the crucial factors necessary to achieve optimal conditions for medical tourism utilizing robotic and artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

In recent times, the field of information technology has permeated many sectors and significantly altered various phenomena. The utilization of advanced robots is increasingly imperative in the domains of medicine, engineering, and tourism. Telemedicine is a broad term that encompasses several aspects of remote medical care. The primary concept of telemedicine involves the transmission of information through electrical signals and the automation of clinical services and counseling worldwide using advanced and intelligent technology. The utilization of robots and artificial intelligence (AI) in the development of medical robots designed to aid physicians. The successful design and construction of medical robots implies that the implementation of these ideas should not come as a surprise (Shahmirzadi et al., 2022)

Today, robots are being utilized in diverse medical domains, enabling tasks such as creating small cavities without requiring extensive incisions and performing intricate surgery. Telemedicine aims to enhance patient care, provide medical services to distant regions, and provide improved access to physicians for counseling (Lanfranco, 2004).

Telemedicine encompasses several applications such as distant counseling, e-learning, remote monitoring, remote surgery, treatment of skin illnesses, telemedicine ultrasound imaging, pathology, and remote therapy of cognitive disorders. It is widely acknowledged by researchers that the use of advanced telemedicine and remote surgery has made it feasible for a proficient surgeon in one country, equipped with reliable internet connections and accurate technical equipment, to do surgeries expeditiously (Shahmirzadi et al., 2022).
