Exploring the Depth: Ethical Considerations, Privacy Concerns, and Security Measures in the Era of Deepfakes

Abstract

While new technologies might make many things easier, they also pose risks if not handled correctly. A prime instance of this type of technology is deepfake, a notable development in recent times. Using AI, deepfake technology can create convincingly realistic multimedia (videos, photos, etc.) that mimics human behaviour. The present research looks at the growing threat that deepfake poses to individuals' safety and privacy. With the rise of deepfake technology, powered by AI, it is becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate between real and altered media, which puts individual identities and information security at risk. This research highlights the necessity for new regulations in the future and questions the efficacy of existing legal systems.
