Abstract

Ticket industry faces persistent challenges including forgery, unlawful resale, and theft. With over half of Norway's population and a significant portion in the USA purchasing tickets online, the need for secure transaction processes is evident. Typically, two layers of trust are involved between the client and the host, leading to complexities and frustrations for consumers. Moreover, certain entities monopolize event sites, potentially engaging in unethical pricing practices. Resale of tickets among participants exacerbates the issue, risking fraudulent or duplicate tickets. Implementing smart contracts on Ethereum blockchain offers a promising solution. This study advocates for leveraging Ethereum's decentralized platform to enhance efficiency, transparency, and security in ticket sales. By doing so, common issues such as fraud, scalping, and counterfeiting can be mitigated, addressing concerns of both buyers and sellers in the ticketing ecosystem.
