The healthcare industry is undergoing a major transformation powered by emerging technologies and paradigms encompassed under the umbrella of Healthcare 5.0 (Rehman et al., 2022). The ongoing evolution of healthcare aims to leverage cutting-edge innovations like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data analytics, robotics, and more to deliver services that are more efficient, personalized, and patient-focused. A pivotal part of this transformation is healthcare organizations adopting business intelligence tools and techniques to derive value from the massive amounts of data they produce and collect. Business intelligence refers to the strategies, applications, data architectures, and analytics capabilities that together enable an organization to gather, store, access, analyze, and use data to guide evidence-based decisions and performance improvements. Properly implemented business intelligence has immense potential within healthcare to uncover game-changing insights from sources like patient records, imaging data, clinician notes, medical research, administrative records, and more. This can profoundly benefit areas like predictive diagnosis, personalized treatments, optimized clinical pathways, automated reporting, improved resource allocation, and other enhancements to care delivery.
