Abstract

The advent of high-speed wireless networks has accelerated the demand for wearable devices and relevant technologies in recent years. The wearable antenna is used to sense, collect, and transmit data wirelessly to nearby devices. A wearable antenna is the key component to support wireless transmission in a wireless body area network (WBAN). This wireless communication includes in/on/off body communication. For continuous health monitoring systems at remote locations, the wearable antennas can be used for people of all ages. A WBAN device ensures continuous health monitoring of an elderly person or a patient without hindering his day-to-day activities. Compact antennas are part of wearable devices. The proposed wearable antenna is a microstrip patch antenna that operates at a 2.45 GHz ISM band. The compact-size antenna is designed using the CST microwave studio suite.
