Abstract

This study examines how event tourism, through community participation, plays a critical role in promoting regenerative tourist growth. Event tourism has shown itself to be a potent tool for advancing sustainable development through the utilization of regional cultural, social, and environmental resources. This study explores how event tourism efforts might act as catalysts for community involvement, empowerment, and collaboration by drawing on an extensive examination of the literature. It clarifies the ways in which event tourism supports the development of regenerative tourism, encompassing cultural preservation, economic revival, and environmental stewardship, by looking at case studies and theoretical frameworks. The paper also examines the importance of stakeholder collaboration, capacity building, and participatory techniques in guaranteeing the sustainability and inclusivity of event tourism programs. Through synthesizing empirical evidence and theoretical insights, this paper offers practical recommendations for policymakers, destination managers, and community stakeholders to harness the potential of event tourism as a tool for fostering regenerative tourism development. Ultimately, it underscores the importance of fostering symbiotic relationships between tourism development, community well-being, and environmental conservation to achieve long-term sustainability and resilience in destination communities.

2.1 Event Tourism and Its Impacts

Event tourism is a powerful instrument for international cultural interchange and economic growth, but its long-term viability depends on active community involvement. Through event-based initiatives, this study investigates how community involvement might support the development of regenerative tourism. It seeks to strengthen destination destinations' sociocultural, economic, and environmental resilience by looking into ways to improve community engagement. In order to provide policymakers and destination managers with useful advice, the study synthesizes empirical data and theoretical ideas. In the end, it emphasizes how crucial it is to promote mutually beneficial interactions between the growth of the tourism industry, local well-being, and environmental preservation in order to ensure long-term viability.

2.2 Regenerative Tourism: Principles and Practices

Regenerative tourism is centered around the notion of restoring places to health via sustainable practices, local engagement, and cultural preservation. This study explores the critical role that community participation plays in promoting the growth of regenerative tourism within the context of event tourism. Through an analysis of methods to improve community involvement and cooperation, it seeks to strengthen destination regions' socio-cultural, economic, and environmental resilience. This paper provides useful insights for destination managers and policymakers to use event tourism as a catalyst for sustainable development and community empowerment. It does this by drawing on empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks.

2.3 The Role of Community Engagement

In order to promote the growth of regenerative tourism, community involvement in event tourism is essential. The objective of this project is to improve the socio-cultural, economic, and environmental resilience of destination regions by investigating the relationship between community engagement and event-based activities. It provides policymakers, tourism managers, and community stakeholders with useful advice by combining empirical data and theoretical ideas. In order to achieve long-term sustainability and resilience in destination communities, this research emphasizes the significance of building symbiotic links between tourism development, community well-being, and environmental conservation.

3. Literature Review

Event tourism has become a major force behind economic growth and cross-cultural interchange in destination towns. It is defined by the holding of a variety of events, from sporting tournaments to cultural festivals (Getz, 2012). However, the level of community participation and commitment determines how long event tourism can last (Sharpley & Stone, 2017). The long-term viability of event tourism efforts is sometimes undermined by the negative socio-cultural and environmental repercussions that result from inadequate engagement of local people (Ritchie & Adair, 2004).
