Abstract

Biomimetics is the associative fusion cooperation of technology and biology that proposes solutions for practical problems by analyzing practical scenarios of biological systems and transferring their essential ideas into applications. In this work, the authors focused on innovations of biomimetic robotics including swarm robot and bio-dedicated soft robot which will help for utilizing several functionalities such as food harvesting, pesticide control, and crop irrigation management. In smart farming, technologies are developed in mimic nature which could help to prevent climate change and increase the reinforcement of agriculture. There are several long-term ecological impacts on cost and inability to complement natural processes such as pollination. Despite the problems, the market for bio-inspired technologies with potential agricultural applications to modernize farming and solve the above-mentioned challenges has increased exponentially. This chapter concentrates on low-cost FEA robotic grippers and FEA-tendon-driven grippers for harvesting crops.
