Abstract

Organizations need a business model that helps them convert opportunities into profitable ventures. Innovating the business models is essential to survive in the dynamic global market. One such business model innovation focuses on the achievement of sustainable development goals and the needs of the Bottom-of-the-pyramid market segment. Integrating the achievement of SDG and the needs of the BoP segment aims to strengthen the competitiveness. Such a strong business model will be very helpful for tourism organizations that continuously strive the achieve a unique positioning. The chapter conceptualizes how a tourism organization, by integrating the SDGs and BoP needs in its business models, can strengthen its competitiveness. The impact of such a model is studied in reference to Porter's Diamond model, which is used in research to assess the competitiveness of the industry, organization, or nation. The findings will be beneficial for the tourism policymakers as they would strengthen their belief in developing business models that focus on both the SDGs and BoP needs simultaneously.
