Abstract

This chapter provides a comprehensive understanding of the causes and effects of energy crises in Pakistan. Hundreds of millions of Pakistanis have to bear in this region enormous power supply breaks and gas shortages for more than a decade. The energy problem, being widespread in Pakistan, covers the economy, the environment, and the society, and hence the country although having a prosperous future cannot proceed beyond itself. Utilizing research findings from academia, government documents and media stories along with other sources it has been attempted to present a comprehensive understanding of how the energy issue in Pakistan came into being. Secondly, authors name the factors including ineffective leadership, corruption in resource management and governance, insufficient investment in fuel and wasteful energy usage responsible for the situation. The amount of energy Pakistan can supply is not able to complete the enhance of demand, which has caused the sheading of load and energy removal and also increased the emissions gas and air pollution.
