Literature Review

The contribution of information technology (IT) to women's safety has been the subject of an expanding corpus of literature. Research has concentrated on the use of social media, GPS tracking, and smart phone apps among other technologies to stop and address violence against women.

Apps for smart phones, like Circle of 6 and Be Safe, have been created to give women rapid and simple access to emergency contacts and support in the event of an emergency. These apps frequently have features like emergency alarms that can be set off if the user feels unsafe, and GPS tracking that lets friends and family know where the user is. Studies have indicated that these applications have the potential to enhance women's sense of security and safety (Yin, 2016).

There have also been suggestions for improving women's safety through GPS tracking. Mobile phones with GPS capabilities, for instance, can be used to locate women who are in danger and notify the appropriate authorities of their whereabouts. Several nations, including the US and India, have employed GPS tracking to improve women's safety (Kaur, 2019).

It has also been determined that social media can improve women's safety. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have been used to support and aid survivors as well as to increase public awareness of violence against women. Social media has also been utilized to advocate for policy changes that will improve the safety of women and to mobilize communities (Friedman, 2018).
