Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are becoming essential tools for increasing the efficiency and sustainability of this renewable energy source and the ocean energy industry has made significant strides in recent years. The early stages of the industry's research and development are when AI and ML first started to emerge in the ocean energy space. The development, management, and upkeep of maritime energy systems have all changed as a result of these innovations. An enormous, unexplored renewable resource that has the potential to make an important contribution to the world's energy mix is ocean wave energy. In order to maximize the efficacy and efficiency of wave energy conversion, this chapter explores the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) technologies. It looks at these technologies' ability to support clean energy solutions and build a sustainable energy environment particularly in the context of smart cities.
