Description & Coverage
Description:

DESCRIPTION: This edited volume explores the nuanced interactions between artificial intelligence (AI), cultural dynamics, and communication practices within the digital landscape. The publication will offer a multidisciplinary examination of how generative AI technologies are reshaping the contours of digital life, focusing on how these technologies are influenced by cultural contexts and how they, in turn, influence cultural and communicative practices. The collection will feature diverse methodological approaches and theoretical perspectives, ranging from empirical studies to theoretical analyses, to understand the interplay between AI and cultural phenomena comprehensively. An ethnographic sensibility will cover all approaches and methods used.

IMPACT: 1. Informing Policy and Practice: The insights provided will be valuable for policymakers and practitioners as they navigate the ethical, cultural, and communicative implications of AI technologies, offering grounded data and analyses to inform better regulatory and implementation practices.

2- Enhancing Public Understanding: This volume will also play a crucial role in educating the general public about the operations and implications of artificial intelligence in daily life. By demystifying how AI technologies function and are integrated into cultural and communicative practices, the book will help lay readers gain a more nuanced understanding of AI's role in shaping contemporary culture and communication. It aims to bridge the knowledge gap between AI experts and the general public, thereby fostering more informed discussions and opinions regarding AI's ethical and societal impacts. This increased awareness will empower individuals to critically engage with and respond to the rapid developments in AI technology that influence their social environments and personal interactions.

3. Advancing Theoretical Frameworks: By integrating theories of communication and cultural studies with AI technology studies, the volume will contribute to the development of new theoretical frameworks that account for the role of technology in society.

4. Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration: By bridging disciplines such as cultural studies, communication, sociology, computer science, and media studies, the book will encourage the cross-pollination of ideas and methodologies.

AUDIENCE: 1. Academic Researchers and Scholars: Especially those in the fields of AI, digital communication, cultural studies, and media studies, looking to deepen their understanding of how AI technologies intersect with cultural and communicative practices.

2. Students: Graduate and advanced undergraduate students studying any of the above or related fields who require comprehensive academic material that elucidates the complex dynamics of AI in contemporary culture.

3. Policymakers and Technologists: Individuals involved in the regulation of digital technologies and AI development, seeking deeper insights into the cultural implications of these technologies to inform policy.

4. Industry Professionals: This includes those in tech development, digital marketing, and game design who need to understand the cultural impacts and ethical considerations of integrating AI into their work.

5. Educational Institutions: Libraries and academic programs that could use this book as a key text in courses related to technology and society.
