Editor/Author Biographies
Richard S. Segall is a Professor of Computer and Information Technology at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mathematics as well as a Master of Science in Operations Research and Statistics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He also holds a PhD in Operations Research from University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He has served as a faculty member with Texas Tech University, University of Louisville, University of New Hampshire, University of Massachusetts-Lowell, and West Virginia University. Segall’s publications have appeared in numerous journals including International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making (IJITDM), International Journal of Information and Decision Sciences (IJIDS), Applied Mathematical Modelling, Kybernetes: International Journal of Cybernetics, Systems and Management Science, Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (JSCI), and Journal of the Operational Research Society (JORS). He has published book chapters in Encyclopedia of Data Warehousing and Mining, Handbook of Computational Intelligence in Manufacturing and Production Management, Handbook of Research on Text and Web Mining Technologies, Encyclopedia of Business Analytics & Optimization, and Encyclopedia of Information Science & Technology. Segall’s research interests include data mining, text mining, web mining, database management, and mathematical modeling, and supercomputing applications. His research has been funded by the U.S. Air Force, U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI), and Arkansas Science & Technology Authority (ASTA). Segall is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Data Mining, Modelling and Management (IJDMMM), International Journal of Data Science (IJDS), Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (JSCI), The Open Cybernetics and Systemics Journal, and The Open Bioinformatics Journal. He is also a member of the Arkansas Center for Plant-Powered Production (P3), recipient of Session Best Paper awards at the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013 World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (WMSCI) conferences. He has served as Local Arrangements Chair of the 2010 MidSouth Computational Biology & Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS) Conference. He was the co-editor of a book titled Visual Analytics of Interactive Technologies: Applications to Data, Text and Web Mining published in 2011 by IGI Global.
Jeffrey S. Cook lives in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he is an entrepreneur in computer technology. He contributed a chapter entitled “Supercomputers and Supercomputing” in Visual Analytics and Interactive Technologies: Data, Text and Web Mining Applications edited by Qingyu Zhang, Richard Segall, and Mei Cao that was published by IGI Global in 2011. He worked as a BetaTester for the Microsoft Corporation in the development of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Cook spent 9 years in the United States Army where he specialized in nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare agents as well as computer systems and foreign languages. He currently holds a patent in Aerospace-design that was adopted by Boeing Aerospace Corporation along with several other patents pertaining to software development. He is also a research writer who has published several books through McGraw-Hill College Division and Vantage Press. He has served for 6 years on the Republican National Committee (RNC) of The United States House of Representatives. Jeffrey S. Cook is listed in Cambridge’s book of Who’s Who for influential people.
Qingyu Zhang is a Professor of Management Science and Director of the Research Institute of Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management at Shenzhen University, China. He earned his Ph.D. in Manufacturing Management and Engineering from the College of Business Administration at the University of Toledo, USA. He is an APICS Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM). He is also a Microsoft certified MCSD, MCSE, and MCDBA. His work was featured in the Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, International Journal of Logistics Management, Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering, Kybernetes: International Journal of Systems and Cybernetics, Industrial Management & Data Systems, International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making, International Journal of Product Development, International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management, and European Journal of Innovation Management. Dr. Zhang’s research interests include supply chain management, value chain flexibility, product development, and data mining. He serves on the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Integrated Supply Management, Information Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategy, and International Journal of Information Technology Project Management.
